Focus Tddi. Do I Need 'diesel' 5W30 Oil?

Featured Replies

Hi guys

With traditional oils for older diesels you get 'Diesel' engine oil. These contain extra cleaners iirc.

Does the Focus TDDi need this type of oil, or will any semi synth/synthetic oil of 5w30 grade suffice?

I just ask because I'm yet to see a 5w30 'Diesel' oil on the shelves, whereas standard 5w30 oil is freely available.

Cheers :)

Just 5w/30 oil will be fine, Nearly all 5w/30 oil is either semi synthetic or some brands are fully synthetic, it doesn't have to say for diesel's on the label, you usually find any other thicker viscosity oils lets say 10w/40 will say either for diesel or petrol. I would recomend either Ford formula E or F or Castrol GTX Magnetec both oils are 5w/30 and will do the job nicely.
