Fiesta MK8 Heated Windshield retrofit

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I am trying to retrofit a heated windscreen on my Fiesta. So far I had the windscreen replaced with a heated one, replaced the HVAC fascia with one with the button itself and checked the two fuses in the engine bay compartment, and they’re both present (one for the left side and one for the right side).

I still haven’t made any changes via Forscan because I can’t find the line of code to activate the heated windshield.

The other day I tried pressing the button on the HVAC to see if something would happen but the windscreen didn’t heat up and after checking with forscan I got 2 DTCs (see attached pics). Am I missing something wiring-wise? Can anybody help me sort the issue?

Thanks in advance

Switch your FORScan to English, that will help us.

If it's not configured, it won't work.

Hi Dave,

here it is in English.

Do you perhaps have any insights about the matter?

TIA

Is the relay fitted ?

Just read your other post, never mind.

Thanks. Could the above DTC be due to the windshield not being configured? I haven’t activated anything in the BCM yet because I couldn’t find the exact value to change.

It's moaning about a relay so check if it's fitted and where it should be fitted

HFS should be in central configuration, if not HVAC

Yeah I also opened another thread to investigate specifically on the relays, but it seems like they are “non serviceable” on the MK8 Fiesta, therefore they are like embedded or soldered onto the fusebox board. Gonna have to check that. Thanks for the insight!

Meaning, perhaps, you need a different BCM?

Not really the bcm itself, it should be the engine bay fusebox. As far as I’ve understood, there should be different fuseboxes based on the different trim levels, so it should be sufficient to source another fusebox with those two relays. I’ll keep everyone posted on the outcome.

Just a small note of caution. Although the relays are fitted in the BJB the control of them is from the BCM. you will need to check that the wires between the BCM and BJB for the relays are fitted.

Will do, thanks!

have you sorted?

i'm trying to do something similar, and looking at my spec fusebox i don't have the fuse i need, so i ordered a new second hand fusebox and opened it, took out the pins which holds the fuse and soldered on mine.

in fact, you can "service" those fuse boxes, not easy but not impossibile

i hope not to do the same thing with the bcm, but if needed i'll do

there are some pics of the opened fuse box if some one needs

Yup, got it all sorted in the end. It was not a matter of fuses or relays, but rather missing wires. I had 2 wires missing in total, going from the fusebox to the connector next to the clutch pedal on the driver’s side. Had them wired by a friend and it magically started working! Hope you can sort it too! Do you have any DTCs at all?
