Headlamp motor leveller

Featured Replies

Hi, new to forum so apologies if not posted correct. Wil find the correct way to post and follow as I search the site. Just got a mk5 titanium 2.0l diesel and the headlamp adjuster on the passenger side isn't working on the pop out switch. Drivers side is fine. Have read how to remove the light but can the motor inside be serviced or is it a replacement needed. Thanks.

I don't think the motor on these can be accessed without splitting the headlight cluster, so not really serviceable.  Worth checking it's not a damaged wire though.  You can generally plug the light in on the 'wrong' side to quickly check whether it's a wiring or cluster fault.

Hi, Appreciate the reply. Will have look when I get a moment. A real pain removing compared to the MK4.

Still issues or understanding. I had my lights out the weekend to hopefully change the headlamp bulbs and sidelight bulbs. No luck. The headlamp bulb is LED as per pic but there were no signs of a side light bulb anywhere. The switch would suggest otherwise, second pic. First image after the 0. Thinking now that someone has changed the units in the past amd the ones I have are not factory spec. Why would there be a sidelight setting on the switch when the car isn't fitted with any. The only thing the sidelight switch does when turing it to that setting is dim the bumper fitted DRLs slightly. Very confused with this.20241005_112005.thumb.jpg.0b950a068f158a136284cd06bd30936a.jpg20241006_113148.thumb.jpg.785746726d29cf1ed8dea6a31752de04.jpg

Just to update on the a above, the motor didn't work on the opposite side so ruled out wiring fault.

Sidelights are just dimmed DRL's on some Fords.  They're called parking lights nowadays as there is no situation where 'sidelights' are meant to be used alone any more.  If it's dark, put the headlights on.  If it's not dark, the DRL's will be on.
