1.0 EcoBoost Auto Gearbox

Featured Replies

Late 2016. Have 2 questions.

1. Which gearbox does this car have? Is it a power shift?

2. Will there be an issue with it handling some more power? Looking at some engine work being done by Pumaspeed.

I'd be more concerned about the Ecoboom engine

That’s being replaced by Ford crate motor. Was given the car for free so can spend a little on it.

Late 2016 has 6F15 torque converter gearbox, originally designed for Chinese market (and built in China too) for 2.0 N/A engine only so it's not designed to cope with not much more torque than 200 NM

Be careful!

That's why manual ST-Lines were 140PS but auto was still 125PS.

A live remap is better to give throttle responsiveness and a bit more low down and mid range torque.

Resist the temptation to get BHP out of it, the gearbox just won't know what to do and will spend all day trying to find a gear, then go bang!

Oh, it's a MK7.5 Fiesta, I've just seen that

Scrub that

It's a DCT250 Powershift

Can take no more than 250NM

Will take 150-60 PS easily

Just don't be aggressive with the pull-aways as you will destroy the clutches

No mate my signature needs updated. It’s not the fiesta. So you were correct the 1st time.

Thanks for the advice. Disappointed but better I know now

Make sure you get an automatic engine.  They have a balance shaft alongside the oil pump to smooth out engine vibrations.  The manual engines don't have that as they use an unbalanced flywheel instead.

If you want more power, and are buying a new engine anyway, why not convert to manual at the same time?

Great idea but the Auto is handy for my good lady as she recently had spinal surgery and she will struggle with manual gear shifting for 6 - 12 months.

The main thing Tom is saying is make sure the replacement engine is the auto engine, not a manual engine

Yes ive made sure of that thanks. That would explain the slightly higher price i paid for the motor compared to the manual
