White smoke & oil consumption

Featured Replies

Fusion 05 bought recently, which was stationary for 2 years. Had service job, changed oils and belts etc. Recently had to replace the radiator due to leakage. No increased temp or warning light. Mechanic checked valve seals, said they did not need to be replaced and he did not replace the gasket, only applied "glue".

Done 1500Km's, burned 750ml of oil. No visible leaks on the floor, only sign is white smoke in the day's 1st run for 2 mins and then its clear.

My mechanic -from phone- said its valve seal leakage.

I'm away from home at the moment, so kind of freaked out from this. Been reading that it can be piston rings, head gasket, or other things like breather hoses and pcv valve.

Any ideas please ?

Thanks!

Probably be cheaper to drop a good used engine in than spend money repairing that one

checked spark plugs and gasket, no leak or strange sign anywhere

probably its the valve seals that need replacing along with some brushing

2 different mechanics told me that a car of that age and miles (105K), its better to use 10-40 instead of 5-30 oil.

also said that I dont need to worry if I'm making sure that there's enough oil in the engine.

what do you think ?
