Headlight upgrade

Featured Replies

Hello everyone

I wanted to upgrade my halogen headlights because I want more powerful headlights as with the current lights do not light up the road properly.

I found RacingVision GT200 h7 lights for the dipped beam as I heard they are the best but I am not sure which ones to get for the highbeam lights.

Any suggestions would be appreciated

Thanks

The car was designed & sold so they lit the road up 'properly'. If there are genuine dark patches, you may need the lights professionally aligned. If you simply want them brighter, you could consider changing the bulbs to more modern LED types, though do be aware they are not technically legal. I believe your car has a projection style reflector which means an LED bulb can be properly aligned so as not to blind oncoming cars, though if it's main beam only you're looking for, that's immaterial as you'd have them off anyway...

For a traditional halogen bulb replacement, a steady flow of recommendations will be along soon from other members...

My bad lol. Btw, if I were to install led lights, wont it fail mot even if have them adjusted properly?

Depends, mine have passed the last 2 MOTs without issue. Hard ti see that they are LEDs without actually removing them, and that's not allowed in an MOT test.Besides, what's the worst that can happen?? If you're panicking, you can swap them out for a test. But like I said, leave this thread open and there'll be some halogen recommendations along soon...

This is my own LED thread...

Switching the headlights to led is tempting but im scared that it would mess up the projection and dazzle oncoming drivers and most importantly fail mot.

If I were to swap the lights for another halogen lights, will I need to readjust anything for the light projection?

If you have projector headlamps you will be OK

Is it a yes or no? Isnt it plug and play for halogen replacement?

Yes, LED bulb is a direct replacement, plug and play...

Is it the same for halogen bulbs?

I have read that the projection style reflector has only been designed for halogen bulbs so if I put leds instead, wont it cause issues in the long run?

I have ordered these halogen lights

https://autobeam.co.uk/products/h7-halogen#:~:text=Good bulbs%2C great value&text=A bit brighter%2C has definitely improved driving at night.

They both have 5000k output. Would that been an issue of being too blue or not? Also, will this have better visibillity compared to lower k outpit such as 4500k?

What are the best led lights that arent too expensive but would maintain the same beam pattern?

There are different versions of these led bulbs. Also, its 100w. Wont that be an issue because standard bulbs are 50w.

Buddy, LED bulbs are NOT 100w! I have no idea where you are getting your information from...

LEDs inherently use lass power than halogen bulbs. That's why the EU banned the sale of domestic tungsten bulbs in favour of LED in order to save dolphins...

Look at the picture. It says 100w and 200w total unless its a typo

It's the equivalent lighting power of a halogen.

Can I please get the exact link to those on ebay as theres so many different variations of these led lights. Thanks

Btw on ebay, it says that it does not fit for my car. Is this even true because my dipped beams are h7 bulbs.

Just make sure they're NON fan LEDs and 360 degree light output and you'll be fine

It does not have an fan and as for the light output, it has led chips on both side
