Recent new purchase

Featured Replies

Hello everyone new to the Ford scenery, I have recently purchased a 2019 galaxy 2.0l eco blue 120bhp

Before I got the car I was under the impression the 2.0l was a really good engine but after a bit more research online I came to realise that our car has the wet belt engine this same as the transit? Is this something to be worried about? The car has full service history but as a precaution I have purchased a genuine oil filter so plan on draining the oil and replacing with total quartz which I use on all my vehicles. Do I need to replace the sump plug as well, sorry if this is a silly question?

thank you

DD

This engine is the same as the one in Transit, however there are far more wetbelt failures with the Transit engines than the car engines.  So far we have not been able to determine whether this is caused by a difference in usage or whether there is a mechanical difference inside the engine.  Ford have only reduced the belt change interval on the vans.

There's a rubber o-ring on the sump plug, so it should be reuseable with a new o-ring, though generally it seems the whole plug is supplied in service kits.

Only main risk on these is if you do lots of stop/start journeys and drive in situations where you are not allowing the vehicle to fully regen the DPF.

When in regen mode it puts lots of extra fuel through the system, into the DPF to get it really hot to burn the soot.

The excess fuel can end up in the sump, mix with the oil, which then degrades the belts

Make sure you are doing full regens

Make sure you change the oil & filter twice as often as Ford recommend

Try to use Stop/Start as little as possible, if at all.

Not something I'd recommend. I presume that your other vehicles don't have a wetbelt ?

Ford are very, very, specific about the oil that is used in wetbelt engines and probably for good reason. The use of anything other than what the specify will give them the perfect reason to deny any claim that you should try and make in the future if the engine fails.

Hello guys thank you all for the reply’s,  I always turn off the stop start and now I’m even more happy to do this after what has been said, the Total quartz oil is the correct one according to the website, it’s called total quartz nfc 5w30 which is a special ford oil apparently is this ok to use? It said another one I can use is 0w30 but this is really thin oil, using 5w30 would let me sleep better at night, what do you all think?

I saw a video of someone changing the oil on a 2017 galaxy, would this be the same setup with the r clip holding the sump plug in?

Many thanks all

I thought you'd have a metal sump on that engine.  Was the 2017 Galaxy definitely 2.0 EcoBlue?

2019 galaxy oil recommended is only 0w30( wss-m2c950a) on engines built up to aug 2021.

After that its 5w30 (wss-m2c913-d) only.

6.37 litres.

Should be metal sump and recommended to replace the sump plug .

The video with r clip is pre ecoblue with plastic sump so not applicable.

Hello guys a follow up to this thread in the end I changed the oil with Mobil 3000 formula f 0w30 as recommended by Pieter tester on YouTube who tests all kinds of engine oils. Used a genuine filter as well and the engine runs a lot sweeter than it used to 👍
