Possible ECU issue

Featured Replies

Hi All

I am hoping someone can help me. My car would not start so it's been taken to the garage.

The car is not turning over, is showing the engine malfunction light and the light is not showing on the gear box as it usually would.

The garage told us it was the starter motor, that was changed and it did not fix the issue.

I am now being told it is the ECU and it needs to be sent to be tested.

I  spoke with another garage who specialise with ECU and they have advised if the car is not cranking over them it does not sound like the ECU so I am not sure how to proceed with the repairs.

Anyone have any idea what we could check at all cause I am at a loss and the bill is getting bigger by the day.

Then tell them to put the old one back and stop guessing at your expense.

If their fault finding technique is to just guess then you may as well take the vehicle to a Ford main dealer, pay the £150 diagnostic fee and at least know what the real fault is.

Frankly I'd be getting my car away from this "so called" garage immediately.
