2009 Fusion no start - HELP!

Featured Replies

Hi guys and guyesses.

Yesterday, after a cold night, I went to start the engine. The engine cranked slowly but didn't catch. Tried a second time... slower!

On the third try there was absolutely nothing... No relay clicking etc..

Out came the jump start pack, and still no click!

Changed the battery for a known good one and still the same!

Checked fuse 28 and 30, swapped the start relay around... Still nothing.

I noticed that when I turn the key to the crank position that the LCD dash display goes off (can't recall if it normally does this though)

Oh yes, the immobilizer light does go out, so it isn't that!

Any ideas? I'm desperate for good ideas if you have experienced a similar experience...

Thanks

2009 Ford Fusion, 1.4 cdti

Fuse 16 possibly?

Suspect a damaged battery cable or earth lead.

You can try adding a jump lead from the engine block to the battery negative to rule out an earth fault.

If it still doesn't work, try powering the starter directly from a battery, if that doesn't work it needs a new starter.
