ESC service light

Featured Replies

esc service light comes on randomly and then brakes stick. replaced brake pad (rear passenger side) in September 2024 already lost half of new brake pad middle of October 2024. does anyone know the issue? or if we need a new caliper. we have had a computer hooked up but apparently no issues as esc light isn't constantly on. thank you

There could be two different things going on here.

Either the caliper is mechanically faulty - and that's slowing down the wheel, making the ABS think there's a sensor fault on that wheel because all other wheels are turning more quickly.

Or there's a problem with the ABS pump, a valve sticking inside, locking that brake on intermittently, but there's no problem with the brake itself.  (Potentially also a faulty EPB motor if this is a Mk5 Mondeo)

Was it a Ford garage that checked the fault codes?  If not, you may find a stored fault code using Forscan.
