Engine cover

Featured Replies

I'm having the front bumper repaired & resprayed due to previous owners arguement with a post.

It's all coming off & prepping before going off for spraying.

The guy said the engine is missing the plastic cover, having looked through various photos of other cars, only the petrol version seems to have a cover.

I have the 2006 1.4 tdci, is there or was there such a cover, I know these go missing at garages etc, can anyone shine a light on this😕

As the autumn season is here, I'll start on those jobs that need doing ready for next year.

The alternator has a whining bearing, & the power steering seems heavy at low speeds, I'll change both as they are 19 years old, the pumps are weak, & cheap to buy, the alternator will be an exchange for a reconditioned unit.

The rear bumper will need removing, & also resprayed as there are scuffs.

As the underside is mint, I'll pressure wash, treat & seal the underside, at the same time I'll remove the exhaust & fit the new hand brake cables.

I've been looking at new wheels for next spring, either deep dish "mini lite", or banded steel wheels, I'll keep you updated as work progresses.

As far as I know the 1.4 Diesel never had an engine cover.

My 1.4TDCI never had an engine cover or under panel.

Re alternator, I personally wouldn't fit a reconditioned unit - i would go for a branded new unit.... or

have your actual alternator rebuilt by a GOOD auto electrician / electro-diesel business.
