Ford Galaxy 1.5 2019 engine rattle and sharp brakes

Featured Replies

Hi, I have just purchased a Ford Galaxy 1.5 2019 with about 27000 miles on the clock. The dealer decided it needed a new clutch and replaced it just before I picked it up.

It seems to run well, but I have a few niggles and wondered if anyone who owns one can say these are normal as the car has a months guarantee. I wondered if maybe something was lose after the clutch change.

After the engine gets warm and running at a low idle there is an intermittent metallic rattle from underneath the engine heard in the wheel arches. A slight rev and it goes away, There is also an occasional metallic clunk when starting the engine or going into a gear and pulling away or going into reverse that sounds similar (although just a single metallic clunk rather than a rattle).

The brakes are very very sharp, it is difficult to smoothly brake especially at slow speeds. Is this normal ?

Also when pulling away gently in 1st gear the engine can sometimes falter. It's RPM seems to jump down when this occurs. This may be me especially with the new clutch and with a turbo car (my previous Galaxy was a 2002 2.3). Is this likely to be normal ?
