Fiesta Problem

Featured Replies

My daughter went on holiday for 2 weeks and when she came back she turned on her ignition and there were 3 warning lights on.Abs,engine,handbrake.Took it into dealer and noticed the speedometer also did not work.Dealer has quoted £650 for new abs module.the car has only done 13,000 mls and is nearly 4 years old.Would there be any point in me contacting ford due to the low mileage or is this a common problem. Thanks,

The ABS module is expected last longer than that. If you purchased your car from a Ford dealership, the car has a full service history with a Ford dealership then Ford UK should definitely make a goodwill gesture. Surprised your Ford dealer didn't contact Ford customer services themselves.

The goodwill gesture can take a number of forms. My VW was four months out of warranty, was well below avg miles and was fully serviced at VW dealer at correct intervals. VW made a FULL contribution to my ABS module (that was a £1600 job!!!)

Your car is 1yr out of warranty so unless it's a common fault with Fords (I dunno?) then I'd expect them to make a contribution of at least 50%.

You definitely need to contact Ford customer services though and if they fob you off with "your fault for not taking our extra warranty", write to them explaining that an ABS module should be expected to last more than 4yrs / 13000 miles and suggest the part was faulty when you purchased the car.

Good luck

I contacted Ford customer services but they said they could not help as the car was out of warranty even though it had only done 13,000 miles. As you can imagine my daughter is rather upset at having to pay this large bill and I wondered if other forum members have been treated the same way by Ford.

Ford are a disgrace over things like this. If you google this fault you will find countless examples such as yours yet still they refuse to accept it as a known fault.

There are some guys on this forum whom appear to work at Ford Dealerships and it would be interesting to hear their views on this.

I feel for your Daughter, you could maybe contact trading standards or better still Watchdog, i know i would if this problem happened to me.

yup this happed to our 55 plate 36000 miles fiesta , it was gonna cost a grand to fix and ford would not budge so mother traded it in for a new shape fezza

Ford rang today and said they had another look at my case and would be sending me £170 worth of ford vouchers.Perhaps my daughter could put them towards a new cambelt just to be on the safe side.
