1.0 Ecoboost fault codes - help requested (P061B + P0017)

Featured Replies

After an hour of highway driving, our Ford Turneo Courier 1.0 Ecoboost suddenly lost torque, revs, power, and the yellow wrench icon on the dashboard came on. We shut it down, restarted it after a minute of waiting, it ran flawlessly and has been running ever since. On arrival home with OBD I read the following two fault code. What could be the cause of the fault?
ECU (Engine Control Unit)(11 bit) DTCs: 2
P061B(47) [0x061B47] Archive (inactive) Engine control module (ECM), torque calculation - performance problem Status: Test failed since last DTC clear, Test not completed in this operation cycle
P0017(94) [0x001794] Archive (inactive) Crankshaft position/camshaft position, bank 1 sensor B - correlation Status: Test failed since last DTC clear, Test not completed in this operation cycle
The car has 200.000km, the wetbelt was replaced at 150.000km. Regular, good quality oil.

Your Wet Belt may be failing.

Check the Oil Pressure if your Scan Tool does that.

Was the oil pump wetbelt replaced?  Or only the timing wetbelt?

We only replaced the wetbelt, not the pump. Could oil pressure be causing the problem? We have not had any oil pressure problems, but now I'm checking the hot/cold oil pressure.

I would expect the normal Oil Pressure to be in the high 20's psi during normal running. Higher at cold start up and briefly when putting your foot down.

The Timing may also be incorrect or the Belt may have slipped a Tooth.

There are 2 wetbelts.  One for the timing.  A different one for the oil pump.  If only one was changed, the other might be breaking down now and clogging the oil pump.

The cam/crank sync is often caused by low oil pressure stopping the VCT (variable camshaft timing) working correctly.  You can swap the cam sensors over to see if the fault moves to 'sensor A' instead.
