Ford Puma Mega box

Featured Replies

Hello please can someone help me.

I've just ordered a Puma ST-X which has been delivered today.

I ordered a mini spare wheel rather than an inflation kit and it doesn't seem to fit in the mega box correctly. There is no where to secure it (screw)

Does anyone have a Puma with a spare wheel who can send me a picture of how it is secured in the mega box. There is a loose screw but no hole to screw it into. I am sure that the dealer have literally just put a spare wheel into a megabox designed for an inflation kit but they are denying this

Please help me.

If anyone has access to the Ford system that gives the build specs these days you should be able to see if the car was built with spare wheel option or the tyre inflation kit. You’ll probably need to give them your VIN

Sadly I am not sure what that means 😞 I've looked on their website and the option to order a mini spare wheel is there but it just says that the capacity of the megabox will be reduced due to the wheel being bigger than an inflation kit.

The box used to be different for those with a spare wheel.  It had no drain plug.  So if yours has a drain plug, then it is just a normal box with a wheel chucked in.

However...they may now be doing that as standard to cut costs.  Various parts of cars get cut during the production run to reduce costs, so I wouldn't be surprised if that had happened.

Wouldn’t think they would leave it unsecured in production, did they supply the jack and wheel brace? Think in foam former under the wheel. This was the case with pre 2024 facelift.

did you have the pump and goo stored in the flap behind the lh trim panel?

The Price List/Ordering Guide reissued as recently as 4/11/24**, still states that factory ordered mini spares go in the Megabox, reducing the size of the Megabox and removing drain plug.

So it sounds as if the dealer has done as Tom suggests. We don't know if you placed a factory order or if you let the dealer source one from stock, in which case they could only add the dealer accessory wheel, not the factory fit item.

Does the Ford dealer have the initials "BS" if yes then you have the answer.
