Windscreen Heater wiring for 2018 Tourneo Connect

Featured Replies

On the windscreen I have just half working.

So after a bit of research I found that there are two fuses involved, one for each side.

I set about locate the fuse box and to test the fuses.

The fuse box is quite a pain in that it must be totally removed to expose the fuses, thanks to a guy on another forum for explaining how to do it, images of the fuse box and my vehicle type are attached.

So:

Fuse 52, 40A, Right-hand heated windshield element.

Fuse 82, 40A, Left-hand heated windshield element.

Both Fuses are fine.

Are there relays and if so does anyone know where they are located?

Also on this vehicle, where will I find the cables that connect at the glass?

Perfect would be an image of the wiring diagram if anyone has one.

Thanks in advance and for reading my post.

The heated front screens are controlled by the Body Contol Module (BCM) which is part of the passenger compartment fusebox. There are two relays one for each half of the screen but they are not user serviceable as they are soldered directly in to the BCM.

The positive connection to screen is via a copper strip/tag behind the 'A' post (one on each side).

thanks for the reply, the relays are solid state then, I would not want to tamper with the BCM at the risk of effecting something else, I am familiar with Solid state relays tho but don't want to mess with something that I do not have a schematic. I will try to find a pinout from the BCM so that I can check the output is alive....If I can find the BCM of course

The 'A' post is the steel angled beam from the bottom of the screen going to the roof which has a bit of trim on the inside? That would be the least messy way to test the power is actually reaching the screen. ... maybe. Trims usually get broken hooks when trying to get them off without to know where the hooks are.

The Relays are just regular PCB mounted, not solid state, they have a moving contact.
