Back up cam

Featured Replies

Hi all

Had a wee search but couldn’t quite find a definitive answer to my query, so apologies if it is a subject already discussed somewhere.

Been trying to find out if I purchase an OEM boot handle for the Puma with the cam on, is it just plug n play?
I’m aware I will need to activate with forscan but are the connections there or do I need extra cabling of some kind?

It’s an ST Line X

Yes you will need the Windows Laptop version.

Yes.

Thanks for the replies, is it a full head unit to boot cable or just a connector at the handle?
Don’t think I fancy stripping the dash down tbh.

Most likely you will need the full harness from the front to the back. Certainly on my 2019 Focus Titanium X there was no harness fitted for the camera.

Ok bud, tnx for the info, I did this on a Vitara once with the harness, just a pain so will maybe look at wireless cams or summit.

Can I just double check with uz guys about the rear cam, I have finally got round to activating the cam via forscan, now when in reverse the screen goes blue and I get a message saying no camera basically, does this mean I just need the oem boot handle cam and its plug & play or do I still need to get a connection to the back of the head unit?

any advice would be most welcome

Personally imho I think you've done this the wrong way around. I would have started at the back, trying to find a loom or something, and if no loom were present I would have run a cable to the front dash and tried to connect to the screen. Then I would have tried the forscan. It's only going to be plug and play if it's connected to the head unit. I'm no expert but that's my understanding of it 🤷
