Anyone Dyno'd There Mk7 Zs?

Featured Replies

Took mine to RSTuning other day and had it dyno'd just to get a base reading to see what the manifold, sports cat and HFIC will do for the performance.

Was impressed with the set up and the result's

3 runs:

123.5

125.7

126.8 @ the flywheel

102.xx at the wheels.

Will get the print out up once im on my phone/photobucket(works comp atm) So the rest is a bit irrelevant until you can see it

Few things Ive noticed is the massive drop(compartivley) in torque(and a slight flat spot in the bhp) after about 2700 until 3500rpm, Thats where you'd really need want the pulling power. I read about emmisions regulations meaning car makers have to map flat spots in around 2-3krpm but didnt think it was true. Doesnt make sense your only going to push it harder if theres less power avalible.

Another flat sport about 4000rpm as well on the torque, albeit a small one.

As for the bhp, seems to be quite linear no major drops or flat spots. it keeps going right up the the rev limit(thought it was 6500, seems to be stopping rather close to mountunes revised setting off 6800...)

First thing the guy said to me just as it finished was "this needs the rev' limit raising!"

He was asking if it had VVT I told him it had TIVCT instead. Before looking at my car they said they wouldnt map them but they might have a look into it(might have to have a talk about a free map, its literally 8mins from my house, and over the road from work )

Cars got 7100 miles on it now. I said it will be bedded in by now and will go downhill from here but he said it will keep getting stronger for a good while.

how much does it cost to get a dyno reading done ?

  • Author

Around 50 quid. All dyno read differently so I went to a well known and respected one. Rstuning in leeds

What does it all mean??

  • Author

The readout/printo out plots how much bhp/nm A car has at a given rev range. Rev Range along the bottom and bhp up one side, torque up the other side, two lines plotting the bhp and torque.

Ive done this so I can see how much power the car has now, and so I can see what difference performance mods like the full milltek exhaust system and the pipercross High Flow Intake Chamber do for the car.
