MK3 focus transmission case cover oil leak

Featured Replies

I've noticed signs of an oil leak between the black cover and the transmission (manual), it appears that there is a gasket in between.

Can anyone confirm if in fact the leak would be due to the gasket failing and is it a DIY repair or should I take it to the garage.

Bump, anyone come across this issue?

You will probably get more response if you mention which engine / transmission type combination you have.

The picture on the other hand is not particularly helping much. I have quite some experience with the Focus MK3 but it is hard to tell what exactly I am looking at.

It's a MK3 focus 1.6 zetec petrol manual transmission hatchback

I believe the leak is coming from the gasket item 7223 pic attached
