Hello, I'll keep it short and sweet. I have a 2012 focus st2 with a few problems and I'm hoping somebody here can tell me what is wrong with it. It keeps dying everytime I stop or press the clutch, the revs go down and it dies. Basically if there isn't a gear engaged the revs drop and it cuts out. If I rev it while it's stationary the revs bounce and sometimes it dies.

Vacuum leak likely.  Though ideally fault codes need to be read with Forscan before spending any money on it.

Thank you. I also got these codes from my mechanic he didn't get a code for the cutting out problem strangely. P26de, p065c, p065b, p05a1, p0113. I'll look into getting forscan.

P26DE is a known fault on these.  There's a software update that can be done at Ford to stop that.  But it won't be causing the cut-out.

P065B & C are interesting.  Those are alternator codes.  It is possible that the alternator isn't producing enough power at idle to keep the engine running if it's faulty.

P05A1 is for the grille shutters.  Ideally that should be fixed if possible.  It may be causing the fan to run if the shutters are stuck closed and that'll put more strain on the alternator at idle.

P0113 is for the air intake temp sensor.  Comes up regularly on here but doesn't usually cause engine cut-out.

If Forscan doesn't provide any better codes, I'd be watching the charging voltage to see what's happening there.  As that seems most likely to potentially cause a cut-out.

OK thanks alot. I was going to put it in a ford garage but they will be super expensive so I'm going to get all the codes myself then find a good mechanic to fix it hopefully. I have got a vgate icar scanner, do you think that will work with the forscan lite app? If not I'll get a better one. Thanks again.

I'm not sure whether the iCar will work with Forscan.  It's the VLinker or OBDLink that Forscan recommend.

Was looking at the vlinker yesterday, I will get one and see if there is any other codes. Sounds like it could be p065b and c that could be causing the cut out maybe. Thanks for your help.

At the moment you can't buy the Android version of FORScan Lite  because of the sanctions against Russia, you can buy the iPhone version though. It might change for either of them at any time.

vgate icar

Not compatible with FORScan.

You need the vLinker FS cable, for use with a Windows Laptop. £24.39

Got the alternator replaced and all the other codes fixed and it was still cutting out. Turned out to be the wiring splices, got the car back yesterday and its driving really nice now. Hopefully it stays that way. Thought I'd post this incase other people have the same problem. Might help someone. Thanks.

Good to hear it's all sorted now.

I'm not sure what you mean by wiring splices though?  People only 'splice' into wiring to add aftermarket electrical parts.
