Fiesta Clicking Noise

Featured Replies

Hi All My son has a Fiesta 06 plate. When he pulls away or slows down he gets a click. He had a look yesterday everything seems to be ok apart from the crown wheel and pinion gives a click when you change direction using the brake disc to turn. Any Ideas?

Welcome to the forums.

Well i've had a fast "clik-click-click " anything under 15000rpm and decided to check it out today .

Once over 1500rpm it disapears but comes back as soon as revs slow back down.

As it happens both when stationary and on the move 1've eliminated drive shafts and gear box.

As it was time to replace the cam belt, i do this every 50k, and the click was at the same rythm as the engine i thought it could be either the water pump or maybe one of the cam pullies.

As soon as i took the lower cam cover off the problem jump out on me

The so called cam belt protector had snapped and was interfeering with the cam belt, scoring it and had actually punched a small perforation in it.

I've replaced the water pump anyway and obviously fitted a new cam belt and pullies.

Quite time consuming but at least their is no damage to the engine!!

I'm reluctant to put a new cam belt protector on because as far as i can see it does little or nothing in the first place and secondly if it was to break again it could be disasterous.
