Ford focus MK1 not turning over

Featured Replies

Focus MK1 petrol 1.6 hatchback 130k

Car was serviced a few days ago including fuel filter replacement, it's been running fine until today

Attempted to start the car, lights come on can hear the fuel pump prime but nothing happens when attempting to start the car, no crank

Checked the battery voltage it is reading at 12.34 volts

Alternator was replaced a few months back

Any ideas what it could be?

Is this a UK specification car with the factory fitted Ford immobiliser PATS ?

Ignition switch if not immobiliser.

Suspect it's the starter motor to be on the safe side connected jump leads to another car and at the same time had a friend attempt to start the car whilst I hit the starter with a hammer and lo behold it stuttered and eventually started!
