New Engine

Featured Replies

Hi

Iv had a new engine from ford put in my mk8 2014 and lots of other parts but it will not start.Turns over and fires up with easy start only.

Anyone else had problems  like this

Has the fuel system been bled through?

Does the engine stop as soon as the EasyStart is used up or does it continue to run on diesel until you choose to switch it off?

Is this a 3.0 litre V8 diesel or something else?

Do you have to code the injectors?

What are the people who fitted it doing about this and what are codes and live data on fuel pressures etc showing?

It's a 2.2 engine supplied by Ford in Norwich. But not fitted by them.

No fault codes and injectors were running fine in old engine but have been recoded again for new engine.

Once easy start is used it fires up but does not stay running .

Garage have ree check timing ect and all OK.

Old engine was running fine until the crank broke . Solid clutch in it at the time . But not any more.

They have ree checked timing ect to make sure the engine is all good.

No codes. Not sure about live data. I ask.

Was told that pressure was all OK

Was it installed by a garage and you paid them to do so. If it was then get them to look at it.

Hi

Yes it's still at the garage . I was just asking to see if anyone else had the same problem after having a new engine fitted. As now they can only spend time on it when they have spare time due to other work. Looking for info to check out ect

Ok, in that case the injectors aren't being fired by the ECU.  There are usually only 2 reasons for that.  One is rail pressure too low.  The other is RPM too low.  Both should be checked via live data as that shows exactly what the engine is seeing.

I wouldn't necessarily take their word for 'good rail pressure' without seeing an actual figure.

I would recommend getting Forscan on it if fuel pressure and RPM are both high enough.  That'll show any hidden Ford codes that a generic garage scanner won't show.

Hi

I have past this on to them. They do use Forscan they said. Don't know what else they can try. Any ideas would greatly be appreciated

Need to come back with the answers to the questions above.

This doesn't sound acceptable to me - you presumably will only pay for the job when it is working again  BUT, of course, they have the car, it doesn't run and you are now at their mercy!

Of course it would be great if the advice from here and garage gets it fixed (I'm more and more concerned at the skill level and understanding of "professionals" If they can't fix it, they need to find someone else who can?

May have to take this further if it isn't solved soon and I suggest an agreement on timescale and payment is needed:
