Not the ‘normal’ boot leak

Featured Replies

Hello all. Having issues with water in the boot. Know all about the known issue with the under bunper vents and sorted this last year. However this winter I’ve noticed water coming in again, and plenty of it.
I had the bumper off yesterday thinking my repair had failed but not the case and no water in the ‘tank’ there.
I did notice some wet insulating foam of some kind in that general area and managed to have a feel up under the trim. I can only assume it’s coming in from the boot strut bolt holes. I’ve sealed around these and it’s yet to rain for my to confirm my fix, but are there any other known water ingress point around that area? Other side of the boot is dry and only that corner shows any sign of wetness. Water is above the top bolt hole for the tail light so that isnt the ingress point.

Hi, if you look at picture 3 (the one with the tailgate support strut) the seam sealer at the top - from the roof gutter - looks to have a tell tale crack in it, this was the exact problem i had.  Water gets in at a surprising rate for such a small crack.  Might be worth a look

My version of said crack, leaked like a sieve !

Hi all , ***** water leaks are the bain of my life. I have a mk2 kuga and sometimes I felt sea sick , there was so much water  in it. I had to seal air vents under rear bumper, around  rear lights , around  rear struts, high level brake light and wires through the body and the roof rails as well. So far , six months  later all is nice and dry  . Oh and while I was at it I also cleared the drain tube and front drains under the windscreen section.  Hope some of this helps.

Seam no.1.  Where the roof gutter meets the boot opening.

Thanks to all who helped with this. I sealed all the joins I could see around the tailgate are and that seems to have solved the issue. Need a day or two of heavy rain to make sure but we’ve had a few showery days and previously the boot would we wet even after this.
