Ford Focus MK3 in Limp Mode

Featured Replies

My 2013 Ford Focus MK3 has went in limp mode, it will not go past 2,000 revs in idle or driving it? I looked on here a couple of months ago and someone had put a little trick by saying turn the key until all lights on dash have registered then flash your headlights 5 times and then press brake pedal 3 times and keep your foot on the brake and wait up to 30secs and the battery light will flash a few times then start your car as this should clear the problem, it did for a while but now it does'nt as my focus mk3 is now back in limp mode and that is'nt working now, on my dash i've got it saying Engine malfunction service now and my engine management light is on, traction control light, stop/start is off, i've plugged in my OBD 2 reader and its codes are P1264 $07e8 then $07e8p then another p upside down. any suggestions please as am lost without my car as use it daily like every other driver.

Ford Focus MK3 what?

That key sequence isn't a trick.  It's a battery reset procedure for when you fit a new battery.  Using it on an old battery will shorten it's life and potentially cause low charge electrical issues in future.

P1264 is an injector fault.  Most likely just needs the injector replaced.  Though the wiring to it should be checked first.

Roughly how much are the injectors?

Around £200 each.  Plus £50 to fit & code at an independent garage.

Ford garage will cost a lot more.

So it looks like your options are any of the 3 part numbers that I listed above.

Just depends if you want new 1791017, repaired, or re-manufactured 1812616.

Re-manufactured as I haven’t got loads of money lol

£201.95 each plus fitting.

Tom said around £200 each and £50 to fit so his prices were bang on the money.

Just seen this one on eBay.  Should be genuine brand new for less than £200.
