i have a 2015 1.6 tdci focus and while driving the car suddenly lost power and when i pulled over stalled. I tried restarting but it would only fire a couple of times and then stall again. Fuel you would say but i had just filled up. RAC recovered me and he said it was the turbo. took it to my local garage they said its not the turbo because the engine should still turn over. they took the fuel tank off and cleaned the fuel pump but still the same problem exists. Any advice appreciated

    Was a sample of the fuel taken for testing?  That could have damaged the fuel pump or injectors even over a short distance if contaminated.

    Can I just clarify what you mean by 'turn over'?  If it's not even turning over then it's nothing to do with fuel or turbo.  That's a cambelt, starter or electrical fault.

    yes sorry wrong expression . it starts and runs for about 5 seconds then stops. at first i thought i had put the wrong fuel in because it happened so quickly after filling up. no a fuel sample has not been taken

    It would be worth contacting the filling station to ask whether any other customers reported fuel issues on the day you filled up.

    Sounds like it's initially making enough fuel pressure to start but then losing it.  This isn't a common issue.  Usually once the pressure drops it doesn't start again without manually bleeding the system.  I think we need to see a graph of fuel rail pressure to see what the figures are when it starts and stops.  I would also recommend using Forscan to see any Ford specific fault codes that a general garage scanner won't show.

    No it's not the same.  Forscan can't be downloaded on Android due to Russian sanctions currently.  The windows laptop version should still be available if you have access to one of those.

    the garage removed the pipe coming out of the turbo and the car started ok so they suspect a damaged blade on the inner fan
