Keyless signal not being picked up by the car

Featured Replies

Hi

I have a 2017 Focus mk3.5 with keyless entry and start. It has started to not pick up the key being in the car when you try to start it.

Key one original 7 years old battery about 1 month old.

Key two not a Ford key but by the proper after market company. 3 years old battery 2 weeks old.

So it doesn't seem to be a key or a key battery issue.

Any ideas please.

It will be most probably a battery issue. Many of the replacement batteries these days are fake, and don't last more than a few weeks, some only last days.

Use a multimeter and measure the battery. A brand new battery should be 3.30V and once the voltage falls below 2.99V they are dead.

OK thanks. I don't have a volt meter so I'll try a duracel battery as I know the ones are in at the moment are unbranded.

Oh dear !! 🙁

Personally I'd avoid Duracell they used to be excellent but since production moved to China, it seems half of them are fake/counterfeit.

At the moment it seems that Energizer or Panasonic are the most reliable.

Ok thanks.

Your right the duracell didn't work either (yep china made ones). Swapped last night but already says low battery. But I guess better than no key at all. I'll get some other make shortly.

Thanks for your help.

Paul

I got tired of buying branded Batteries from reputable sources and them not lasting very long so the last time I bought a Supermarkets own brand for half the price and they are still going strong after about one year.
