Ambient lighting on sync not changing colour

Featured Replies

I wonder if anyone has experienced this before.....

I've just bought a MK3 focus with sync and the ambient lighting is set to red. There is an option on the screen to amend the colours but when I press them, despite making a noise of a button click, the colour doesn't change.

I've tried resetting the system with no joy, having watched another video, I think it could be a software issue because their interface looks slightly different.

Any ideas on how to fix it without taking it into a garage?

It's not really a big deal but red is a very angry colour 😁

It looks like a previous owner has been tinkering.

You are running Sync 3.4 which was never officially available on the mk3. And the climate controls are not on the screen without asbuilt config changes.

Is the car a 2012 as per your profile or have you got a newer one now?

I do still have this car. So it may be an after market fit? Hmmm, I wonder if it ever worked properly.

Yes a 2012 would never have had Sync 3, nor 2, maybe not even 1. So the display is retrofit.

Maybe a previous owner hoped just turning it on in software would be enough, but you might only have single colour ambient lighting if there is no overhead panel with dial.

Thanks Alex, that's really useful.
