Mk2.5 90hp Focus modifications/upgrades master list

Featured Replies

Hello all.

I have a 90hp mk2.5 Focus and I am looking for some easy/not very expensive modifications that I could do to it to increase handling/power/comfort. I want to ask you all if you know of any such modifications that can use parts from other mk2s (bigger engine ones) or mk3s where I can find cheap parts in breakers yards.

The following categories are of interest:

Performance air filter (is it worth it?)

I am planning to buy some coilovers and dampers so any extra stuff that could go with them would be nice (arms, bushings, anti roll bars etc)

Drivers' seat (I heard mk3 ones are pretty easy to fit, I was wondering if base model ones offer better support)

Short shifter (if there's any dedicated ones available)

Exhaust (any compatible ones?)

Brake upgrades (do 1.8 or 2.0 ones fit plug and play style

Rear drums upgrade (is it worth switching to discs or is the hassle too big?)

I think I covered all the areas so far but I'm open to suggestions, the car already has a remap on it (in the region of 115-20hp)

Sticking with Ford parts you may be able to upgrade to ST front discs and calipers though even if everything fits you may need to run 18” wheels to clear them. 17’s may clear but that would need confirming.

Also instead of coilovers maybe consider eibach/bilstein sport damper kits. They may lower the car nicely without giving sacrificing much in the way of comfort.

Then perhaps poly-bushes for the front wishbones and rear anti-roll bar.

Thank you very much. I'm saving up for one of those bilstein eibach kits. I still need to run 16s for legal reasons so I'm guessing 2.0 tdci or petrol brakes is the highest I can go
