Ford Focus Titanium X TDCI - Xenon Headlamp Assembly

Featured Replies

Hello,

I’m trying to understand the part number system on the headlamp assembly and i hope some here might know the answer.

I have some questions

1. My code is BM51-13D154-BG, would another model like BJ, KA etc work or should i change it like to like?

2. In front of the ford logo is written RHS, what does that stand for?

i have found an assembly with the same code ( ending in BG ) but it had written LHT, would that work ?

i have also seen assemblies with LHD written on

what does RHS, LHT, LHD stand for?

Kind regards,

Daniel

RHs Right Hand Side, LHS Left Hand Side, RHD Right Hand Drive, LHD Left Hand Drive

Left Hand Thread ?

Don't know about part numbers, I prefer FINIS codes.

LHT may just stand for 'light' on a different sticker format?

A light cluster with exactly the same part number should not be for a different drive side as that will have it's own unique number.

For these part numbers, the final letter denotes revisions so that is the only part that can be different.  They start at A and go up the alphabet.  So you can replace a BG with a BJ, BK, BL, etc.  However you cannot replace a BG with a KA.

B***** **L* Tom, your kowledge is infinite !

thank you for your responses, the labelling format seems to be the same, i have attached the picture.

unfortunately the part have now been sold until i managed to understand if it will work on my car

But it will be great if i can understand the difference for next time i see one

LHT may stand for Left Hand Traffic - as in driving on the left side of the road.

But I agree it seems odd to change just that part of the formatting.  Looking at your sticker again, the RHS seems completely redundant as it already says RH in the top corner.  RHD would have made more sense.

Yes, that is what got me confused as i have seen RHS, LHT, LHD and the same main product code.

I'm not quite sure now what to buy to fit my car, trying to find one can be quite challenging and to my surprise buying a new one from ford will cost me half the amount i have paid for the entire car

As per your wish 🤣

FORD FINIS CODE: 1856838   =   Ford Part Number: BM51-13D154-B?

OP - You do not say why you need a replacement  headlamp assembly.

I have just replaced both assemblies (Xenon) on an'08 Focus, Ford prices are astronomical, so I bought new from Autodoc, saving me over £500.

I reasoned that any s/h part would probably be as bad as my old units.

In my case the reason i want to change it is because it has water ingress inside and i do get an error saying "Headlamp Malfunction please service".

The headlamp actually works well despite the error but the water ingress need fixing.

Thanks Daniel.

I had to change mine because the reflectors around the xenon discoloured, and the beam was a little defoccused (excuse the pun !)

Personally I find it appalling that with a Sierra, I could buy new seals, clips, reflectors etc, but on a modern car, it is all or nothing, and the "All" bit is ludicrously expensive!

Good luck with your parts search.
