Dipped Beam lower part is Dark! 😞

Featured Replies

Hello All. I've just changed both dipped beam headlight bulbs on my 2013 Fiesta Ecoboost with new Philips Racing Vision GT200 H7 because I can barely see the road with the old ones. The light is now brighter but I can still barely see the road especially on the driver's side immediately in front of the car. I parked in front of a wall and noticed the lower part of the right headlight is dark! Anyone have ideas or maybe actually know why?... And how to fix it!Screenshot_20250116_211119_Gallery.thumb.jpg.f5aa9a1a73c4fe9d3b5cc404ffd7a2d1.jpgScreenshot_20250116_211119_Gallery.thumb.jpg.f5aa9a1a73c4fe9d3b5cc404ffd7a2d1.jpg

Looks to me like neither bulb is fitted/located correctly in the headlight housing.

One thing is for sure the car will fail the MOT on headlight alignment. I think you need to take the bulbs out and check they are fitted in the correct orientation.

Thanks! I thought that too but I w am sure I connected them in the same orientation as the old ones I took out. I did NOT take into consideration the possibility of the old ones having been installed incorrectly in the first place! 😱

I had a similar problem with my Focus (although I think my beams were too low rather than too high, although this was a few yrs ago). So might be different on your Fiesta, but what I had done wrong was to insert the electrical connectors fully into the bulb. What I should have done is make sure the bulb was in good contact with the lens housing and then push the connector onto the bulb even if the electrical connector didn't go fully 'home'.

Certainly worth trying (do one at a time).

When refitted correctly, the bulb was probably 2mm further back/forward than when I first fitted it, but this makes a massive difference to the beam.
