Flat battery , keyless start

Featured Replies

Hi hope someone can help, my wifes ford focus car battery is dead , the problem is its a keyless start car , i know there is a key in the fob to get in but how do i open the bonnet without the alarm going off . Sorry if its a stupid question but its Sunday and i dont want to wake the whole street up . I haven't attempted to open the door yet . Many thanks Steve

I haven't had to do it (and check the handbook - paper version inside the car, joke. There is an online version somewhere that may help?) but on 2011 S-MAX my understanding is that you open the fob and use the metal key (it fits in the fob for extra leverage if necessary)

Then, remove the cap from the steering column with the key and place the fob in the hole, just in case?

This (I believe) allows the car to identify the immobiliser chip if there's any power left in car or fob.
The you should be able to open bonnet without problems?
If it happened to me, that's what I'd do/try.

Anyone?
