4 year 36,000 service price and parts

Featured Replies

Hi,

Had a quote from local ford dealer and really can't afford the £492 price for this service and my mate is a Vauxhall dealer mechanic who can do it for me. My question is around the parts, filters oil etc.

On the quote from ford they state the oil as 5W-20 WSS-M2C948-B.

Do I need to get this oil from Ford?

Wasn't sure of the significance of the WSS-M2C948-B compared to other 5W20 oil?

Thank you

Yes you need the exact specification oil. No you don't have to buy it from Ford.

I find Arnold Clark online to be the cheapest for the Castrol oil.

Thank you, so I need to make sure it is WSS-M2C948-B?

Yes, that is very important.

That is very interesting, there was another recent post on here to say that Ford had changed the specification of the Oil to a 0W-20 one with the reference no ending in A to stop LSPI in these and other Direct Injection cars.

Hi Chris,

As mentioned, that WSS-M2C948-B is the important piece of info. In fact I think only the 5W-20 comes with this spec, other viscosities having different ones.

Also good to know Ford keeps the 5W-20. I kept asking around and none of the Ford owners I know got the 0W-20 after a service in 2024. A couple more are getting their oils changed next month and asked Ford about the oil and it is still the 5W.
