Retro-Fit of Heated screen Washers-2022 Focus Estate Vignale

Featured Replies

Hi All, following repeated freezing of my windscreen washers, I've bought a complete under bonnet loom with washer jets to install...[2nd hand items]

Can anyone tell me what else I may need / or need to do?

I know they're usually powered of rear heated screen circuit being operated...

Also does anyone know the location of where the loom connector/connection position is please? [if anyone can get some pictures of existing setup would be very appreciated].

Thanks in advance.

I know on the fiesta's there is an electrical connection socket under the scuttle area. Can anyone shed light on the connection on the focus [2022 model] please?

Hi...Can anyone at all help?

Fuse 50 in the engine bay fuse box is the heated rear window.

Are they definitely powered from the rear screen loom?  I thought they'd be independently operated by the BCM on modern cars?

I know the mirrors are still heated when the rear screen is on Fords...unlike VW where you can choose when you want the mirrors heated!

Hi. I have looked through a few diagrams here..2021 Ford Focus (EU) (EMYE) Wiring Diagrams - Fuses & Relay Information and thought the rear window was F78?...

But I also found this: image.thumb.png.0085750501e6cdbdf76be0fb4b8300a7.png

Ideally I'm after a loom/socket to plus the heated washer jet into, and its location...

I think I've found that they are, looking at some diagrams, but i don't have info on where this connection is made, it is possibly at the battery distribution box [fuse box] in engine bay.

I've been looking for a possible redundant, un used socket so I can plug the heated jets loom into it. Not sure where that could be though. I have a feeling most UK cars dont have heated washer jets...

But if someone has, or thinks they have would be great to get some reference/images to where that connection/loom socket is etc.

I'm trying to avoid cobbling a "tap" into existing loom, and to get it OEM if poss.

All Focus's, Zetec trim and above, had heated washer jets for nearly 20 years.  Unfortunately they were finally removed from the facelifted Mk4 Focus to reduce manufacturing costs.  I wouldn't be at all surprised if they also removed that part of the loom from the engine bay on these models.  I don't think it will be a simple plug & play job as you're hoping sadly.

If you have Forscan, you could see whether they're listed as an option in your BCM.

Yes I agree. I think they've taken out a lot of the "bits & pieces" to save where they can. I'll have a play with Forscan at some point soon, to find out. Worse case, I'll submit and make a connection somewhere on the back of the rear heated screen if no joy.

The Focus diagram shows the washer jets connected to the left hand heated windscreen relay output. Fuse 3 in the battery junction box. Seems a bit daft to me. You don't keep switching on the heated screen on a long journey once its warm inside. Previously, on other Fords, heated washer jets were on an ignition controlled feed, so were always warm when driving.

I wanted to put them on our 22 Fiesta, and looked for the plug that most models seemed to have near the passengers side bonnet hinge. Not there though. And no longer even listed in the fuses list. Something else on the circuit that was previously washer jets. Probably the same on later Focus'. They have done away with the option.  It should be connector 140. 2 pin, black and grey/brown, in the same place as Fiesta I would think

I fitted them, and just connected into the rear wiper circuit. So they are always on when driving, much prefer it that way
