Hello gang...did the S40 volvo eventually get the 1.6 Sigma engine as in the MK1 Focus?

    I believe so, it's basically a MK2 Focus

    The original S40 wasn't Ford based.  It was basically a Mitsubishi Carisma.  

    I bought one as a stop-gap once, was glad to be rid of it within a fortnight!

    What issues did you have?  I was viewing a V70 and they have persistent loom issues

    thanks gents. I am aiming to purchase a water pump timing kit and the one I have seen at a low price is for the S40 even though I have used Ford part numbers

    The main issue I had was the handling.  The rear end stepped out on the first damp corner I came to!  That was further exacerbated by the useless saloon boot hatch preventing me getting a heavy tool box as far forward as I wanted.  Might think they sacrificed handling for comfort but I didn't find it very comfortable either. 

    The engine itself wasn't too bad, was a 1.9 diesel with the higher power output of the two available at the time, a whopping 115bhp...
