1.6 diesel oil problems

Featured Replies

So my engine (1.6 duratorq TZJA, 8 valve, 95hp version) has a vibration at idle, that turns into a buzz under load, especially just before 3k rpm.

Investigation shows oily mist on the cable harness near the oil filter.

Theres is also oily stuff at either end of the intercooler inbound pipe.

I checked the pcv and theres was thick, almost jelly like oil round the base and on the back of the diaphragm.

This makes me suspect an oiling problem and a raised oil pressure due to some sort of obstruction.

My plan of action to resolve this is

1. Change the fuel filter to eliminate diesel feed problems as a cause.

2. Run flush in the oil before doing an oil and filter change.

3. take off and flush the intercooler with degreaser and methelated/white spirit.

4. Change the banjo bolt on the turbo and attempt to clear the oil lines.

5. Change the pcv as a precaution.

6, if this doesnt resolve things, change the oil cooler and repeat a flush and oil+filter change.

Does this sound drastic or procedural enough to eliminate any oil circulation and/or over pressure caused by obstructions? Will it resolve an engine vibration caused by elevated oil pressure, assuming thats the cause?

I would also check the injectors for the vibration at idol...do you have and injector leakage aswell

Ive not got any symptoms of things not running as they should. No smoke, missfires, power loss or jerking, mess around the injectors, no dpf issues, mpg as normal. Just that the engine has a vibration/wobble at idle, and then a noticeable buzz that can be felt in the pedals and dash.

Most noticeable symptom 8s when accrlerating from 60 to 70, under load when i put my foot down, the buzz gets stronger.

Irs had dipetane and cataclean through it in two seperate fill ups.

I wouldnt know how to test the injectors without having them removed and manually tested.

Any advice?

I may have sticky piston rings, going off the oil condition in my pcv and mist blowing from the oil filter, so gonna see if the flush helps first before the expense of injectors.

Found this on YouTube.

Easy to make

4 x syringes and some tubing and a clothes hanger.

The fuel you get out just put back in your tank
