Fiesta 125hp Mild Hybrid MHEV: low milage and maintenance?

Featured Replies

Hi everyone!

I really wanted to ask here a question to get an honest advice from anyone who wants to express a thought!

I bought a new Fiesta ST-Line MHEV in February '24, but only started using it about 4-5 months later, so I’m currently just under 4k kilometers (about 2,485 miles).

I’m happy with the car so far, but considering the first service is due every 2 years or 30k kilometers (about 18,640 miles), and the car was stationary for a few months after I purchased it, would you recommend getting an additional service after 1 year and only a few kilometers?

I ask because, even though this engine has a timing chain, the oil-bath belt should still be there for the oil pump, and proper oil maintenance is important.

I also signed up for the 7-year Ford Protect plan, in case it helps.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks a lot! 😁

Yes, for the price of oil and a filter, I would have the oil changed at 1 year old.

I would not have any other servicing completed at that mileage.

Hi Tom! 😄

Thanks for your advice! Yes, I believe it's worth the expense. I genuinely thought that even if the mileage is low, the oil could still be "old."

I don't know if it's the same there, but in Italy, even a simple oil and filter change can be expensive, especially if done by an authorized Ford partner... but if it helps avoid possible issues, it’s definitely worth the cost.

It is! My present car is on 12 monthly service intervals anyway, but on my previous 1.0 Ecoboost I got a "deal" from my local dealer for oil change combined with the annual convenience check.

I'd definitely go for the annual change, particularly with such low mileage.

Hi Eric! Thank you for your reply!

I'll definitely get my oil and oil filter changed, hoping that It won't be extremely expensive.

So It's pretty much the same everywhere with service and prices🙃
