1.6 Diesel (T1DB) - unplugged sensor and injectors

Featured Replies

Hello All,

We've just bought a salvage Focus MK3 with low milage, It's a Cat N with a few dents and scratches. Runs and drives fine but ForScan came back with Glow Plug Sense Circuit (I guess it needs new plugs) and Injector Offset Learning at Max Limit for cylinders 1,3 & 4. The car had full service (oil and all filters) I was wondering if anything else could be at play or should I jump straight into replacing all injectors? The engine runs rather smoothly but sometimes shakes badly when turned off.  Also, when turned off there's a strange noise, something like released vacuum, like taking a breath when you resurface after a dive.

I also found an unplugged sensor (could it be exhaust temp?) - this one really got me scratching my head as I checked everywhere and I can't see anywhere to plug it in...? Attached the pic below.

Any help much appreciated

Those injector codes are very common on this engine.  The injectors may still do the job for now, but ultimately they will all need replacing eventually.

Shaking when turned off could mean the throttle body is not closing when it should to starve the engine of air when shutdown.  It could also mean the dual mass flywheel is worn.

The unplugged sensor is a lambda sensor.  Not all of the Mk3 1.6 TDCI's had one, so it is possible that someone's fitted a used DPF from a different model, in which case there won't be a plug on your loom to accept the lambda plug.
