Mk4 1.5 tdci st-line x performance modifications

Featured Replies

Hi

i have a mk4 1.5 diesel focus st-line and I’m looking for some performance modifications to make.

I’m having trouble finding things online as it always pops up with stuff for the st and I’m not sure if it’s compatible with my car.

I’m looking for things such as a downpipe or full exhaust system, cold air intake maybe a better fuel pump if that would be needed

never modded a car before but want to get into it so needing all the help I can get. Cheers

The only performance mod worth doing on a diesel is a remap.  That should take it up to around 150bhp without any other modifications.

If you want a nicer exhaust note then you can upgrade the rear half of the exhaust.  It is illegal and an MOT fail to tamper with the DPF at the front now.  The ST exhaust won't fit your rear bumper as it has split rear tail pipes, whereas the STLX has twin rear tailpipes.

The fuel pump already flows far more fuel than the injectors can handle so that doesn't need upgrading.  Cold air intake is pointless as the turbo heats up any air going into it anyway.  A larger intercooler would be a better idea to cool the pressurised air flowing out of the turbo, but it's a lot of hassle and not really needed on a road car.
