1.0 Ecoboost Gear Selection issues

Hello all,

I have a 2016 1.0 ecoboost (140ps) and am having issues with my gear selection.

It had a new clutch in 2023 and the 1st and 2nd synchros and hub changed in Nov 2024 as i could only select gears 3,4,5.

About 8 weeks after collecting from the garage, I was having intermittent issues selecting gears 1 and 2 when stationary. I had to pull off in 3rd and downshift to select the gears. This was an intermittent issue. After about 2 weeks, it pretty much stopped by itself, but now I am unable to downshift into 2nd.

I can get it into 2nd most of the time if Iet off the clutch on my downshift and rev to circa 2000rpm in neutral and then reapply the clutch and select 2nd.

It selects all gears fine when stationary.

Can anyone shed some light on whether this is a clutch or gearbox issue? And what it is likely to be going wrong. Surely the 1st and 2nd synchros havent gone again less than 1000 miles of ‘normal’ driving? No obvious signs of any leaking from the clutch cylinder.

There is no grinding, unusual noises etc.
