locking petrol cap 2010 Ford Focus Zetec S 1.6 petrol

Featured Replies

Hi All

Someone in our street has been putting sugar in people petrol tanks. Fortunately my car has not succumb to this childish act and I want to avoid and prevent it happening.

My question is... Is there a locking petrol cap that can fit my car? can anyone give me a link to the correct fit please.

regards

Anthony

Is there not a solenoid lock on the flap like on focus and mondeos i have heard a lot of people remove the fuzes for the flap solenoid because it is a ballache to open if the solenoid fails.

Check the owners manual fuze placement to see if it has one fitted.

I dont think the modern cars can be fitted with an old style keyed lock but will stand corrected

Your car is fitted with the Ford 'easy fuel' system on the filler.

You cant put anything in the filler unless it is either a petrol pump nozzle, or the Ford emergency filling funnel. Anyone just trying to put sugar or something else in the filler will fail.

Ford deleted the locking fuel flap system on the mk 2.5 facelift of the Focus, partly due to them switching to the easy-fuel filler necks and also saving some money. The filler flap bowls still have the cut out etc for the locking pin to engage the hinge but there’s no solenoid fitted and I suspect they probably pulled the wiring circuits too

Ford offers lockable fuel caps for the Easy Fuel system as an official accessory for selected countries (for example the USA). These lockable fuel caps can often be found on Ebay.
