08 fiesta overheating

Featured Replies

Hi folks...A little help needed please.

My o8 fiesta steel is overheating..

The heater is working as normal. The expansion tank and cap are just a few months old. I notice the electric radiator fan doesn't seem to come on at all. It is cold outside but the water boils off and it still doesn't come on. The temp gauge reaches normal on the dash and stays there.

Any ideas how I might fix the problem and things to check.

Thanks.

First check is to power the fan directly from the battery to make sure the motor works.

Next test is to unplug the coolant temp sensor.  That should force the ECU to switch the fan on as a failsafe.  If the fan works directly but not from the temp sensor then we can look into fuses & relays.

Thank you for that..

I'll check that tomorrow.
