New Ford MPG?

Featured Replies

Hi All

new to this forum and just looking for a spot of guidance - I just bought a 2019 Ford focus vignale auto (1L 125) - overall love the car - but what doesn’t seem quite right is the fuel economy!

around town it’s getting a pretty shocking 25-28MPG average, and even on the motorway it’s only barely getting 42 - given some of the other figures I’ve seen for this floating about - does this seem wrong? Or is it just because it’s an auto?

TIA

The official WLTP figures for the Automatic with that Engine are 39.8 and 42.8. These are about 6 or 7 mpg worse than the Manual version and given that it is winter then what you are getting doesn't look too far off what is expected.

Hi Alexander, welcome.

We always get a wide range of answers/opinions to mpg questions as there are so many variables - vehicle condition, driving style, traffic conditions, short or long journeys, etc.

The "Honest John" website gives "real mpg" figures as reported by owners in the range 30-44 mpg for your model, so you're not far off by that yardstick.

You say you've just bought the car and I've always found my mpg improves after time, so it may improve a little as you get used to the car. Also it's now 5-6 years old - has it been fully serviced? New plugs and air filter may make a difference if not.

That's about right for a 1.0 auto

Try super unleaded and change the oil often, you may get a couple more out of it, once it settles down.

Bit that's about it

Thanks everyone! that's assured me somewhat that it's not drastically different from what I should be expecting!
