Engine noise Ford Focus 2021

Featured Replies

Hello everyone.

I just bought used Ford Focus 2021 Petrol 1.5 120hp 3 cylinder engine. I keep having this rattling noise coming from the engine area on and off. Everywhere I went they always say its just how 3 cylinder engines work. Other than the noise which when i am inside the car i don't hear it the ride is pretty smooth and the car runs pretty smooth but when i open the door or the window its just annoying. I was wondering if anyone else has this issue.
Thanks in advance for any help that may or may not come.

The UK Specification 1.5 Petrol cars are 150hp so may be different to your one.

Timing chain and direct injection can sound a little clicky/clattery.

Your best bet is to find someone selling the same engine and ask to test drive it, see if it's the same.

The 120 HP version of the 3-cylinder "Dragon" engine will be de naturally aspirated TI-VCT version with port injection. This type of engine was never used in western Europe or the UK.

The naturally aspirated version of the "Dragon" engine has many differences from the turbocharged, direct injected version of the "Dragon" engine that is used in western Europe and the UK.

Since the naturally aspirated version of the "Dragon" engine has no direct injection or a timing chain (it has a wetbelt instead) those can be ruled out as the cause of the rattle.

I never knew they offered the NA in the Mk4 Focus, I just assumed it was a lower state of tune.

It must be quite gutless, trying to haul the Focus along.

Hi I had a rattling noise that I heard mainly if u where in a McDonald's where the sound would be amplified

I asked the garage when I purchased the car and they bamboozled me with it's a deasel engine it's different from a petrol and fobbed me off after months of fighting a lonely battle and after a full inspection The garage took ownership

Yes they caused all the issues when the wrong fuel filter was installed and decanted 1/2 tank of fuel all over my tyres anyways the noise from my engine is my gearbox it's on the road out

It could be that

I had the aa check it as I had a hight soot level in my engine as the dpf wasn't blowing but they said its the duel mas fly wheel
