I’m about to buy a V-linker ForScan diagnostic scanner, as recommended elsewhere on this forum. Before I do I just want to check the situation with the license. The ForScan website currently says:

“Sorry’ we have to suspend sales of ForScan license”

Can I still get the 2 month free trial license? And what happens when that expires (can I get another free trial?). Did the paid for license offer more functionality or is the free license sufficient for someone who just wants to do basic maintenance/ trouble shooting at home.

    The free licence is still available.

    I used the free licence to configure and write the odometer on a cluster swap.

    Afaik, the only thing missing from the free licence is firmware upgrades.

    You don't need either of the types of Licence to do the above.

    You can read DTCs and perform most service procedures without a licence.

    You need a licence for any programming or config changes.
