Wetbelt (timing belt): Fail Despite Mantainance

Featured Replies

Good day.

Does anyone know if a ford's 1.0 wetbelt worn out despite proper maintain and service?

Many rumors, many things said.

But what about real facts?

I think we're talking here about cars purchased from new, and correctly serviced by the original owner, which have had belt failure while still with the same owner?

Must say I can't recall seeing a case like that on here. It usually seems to involve a subsequent owner of a used car where even with fsh it can't be proved 100% that services have all used correct oil, no flush etc.

I certainly know people who have bought new, serviced diligently and had 8/9 years trouble free service before getting the belts done.

Thats the case, if really can endure if indeed properly mantained.

For example the mechanic - garage could fill engine oil which doesnt meet requirements. The garage that serviced it last time added engine oil that doesnt meet requirements, althouth it is less than one ltre. In owner's manual it is written that less than 1 litre is acceptable.
