High pitched noise under the bonnet

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, I recently bought my 2017 Ford Focus ST-Line a few months ago. I'm still a fairly new driver and would love to hear your feedback and advice! I noticed a thick oil leak under my car and a high pitched noise coming from under the bonnet. I was wondering if it's safe to drive it to a garage about 10 miles away on fast road? They couldn't quite advise me.

Check the cold Oil Level with the Dipstick and top it up a little at a time if necessary, the difference between the lowest mark on the Dipstick and the highest is normally about 0.5 to 0.75L. The Oil Leak needs to be fixed.

The High Pitched noise may be nothing to worry about, no one who is not at the car can advise any further, it could be anything.

Thank you, I shall do that with the cold engine! I checked it while it was slightly warm!

By Cold I mean about half an hour after switching off so that the Oil has a chance to drain down to the Sump, it doesn't matter if it is a bit warm.
