FORD FOCUS 1.5 ZETEC TDCI 5DR Manual 2019 DIESEL

Featured Replies

Morning folks, apologies if this has been asked before, but we're about to buy the above and I wanted to just check when the cambelt actually needs attention? I've done various searches online and come up with several different 'answers' (I've messaged a couple of Ford garages and got two different mileage!). So far we've been told 144k, 125k and 120k miles (and Google AI search says 100k). The car is currently on 102,480 miles and has been regularly serviced (7 stamps since new and the last service at 102,473 miles - this was by the garage we're buying the car from). We're looking to take out a warranty with Motoreasy and the cambelt change is one of the things flagged in their Ts&Cs. Many thanks for your help and advice. Cheers, Mark

Being 2019 this should be a Mk4 Focus with the 1.5 EcoBlue engine.  Not a Mk3 with the 1.5 TDCI engine.

So it's 120k or 10 years taken from the Ford service site.

That's interesting and many thanks. It's listed on the dealer site in the description as 2019 FORD FOCUS DIESEL ESTATE 1.5 EcoBlue 120 Zetec 5dr (first registered 22/5/2019, if that makes any difference), but also listed in the general section of the stats as 1.5 ZETEC TDCI 5DR Manual, so maybe just a description error on their system, but will double check, so thanks for flagging this.

Registration date isn't reliable as it could be a Mk3 that was left in a compound for a year before registered.  Mk3 and Mk4 look very different though, so it should be easy to tell.  I agree that looks like a database error.  The two engines are quite different, with the 1.5 TDCI being 8 valve, and the 1.5 EcoBlue being 16 valve.

Hmm, the garage have confirmed it's a ford focus zetec TDCI, so guessing the car is probably a bit older than first registration of 2019? Or should all Mk4 cars have the 1.5 EcoBlue engine? Thanks

TDCi is the name but the engine will be Ecoblue

Mine was a 2019 1.5 Titanium TDCi - Ecoblue engine

And my previous was a 2016 1.5 Titanium TDCi - TDCi Engine

All Mk4's are EcoBlue.

Get the garage your buying it from to do the belt in with the deal, thats what id do.
