Auto dimming rear view mirror help needed

Featured Replies

I bought a new rear view mirror for my fiesta mk8 and it’s an auto dimming one, my car doesn’t have the loom to plug this mirror in so I tapped into my interior light for the 12 volt.

the problem I have is that I can’t get the mirror to work, it’s not doing anything, I’m assuming red is live and grown is ground right?

here are a couple pictures of the mirror.

There should be 3 wires. The mirror is controlled from the BCM, it's not just a case of connecting a positive and negative supply.

These are the connections for a 2021 Mk8 Fiesta.

Why can’t I just use the ground and 12 volts though? I saw another thread where someone only had to connect the ground and live, the third one was for temporary turning the mirror off when reversing.
