Focus 1.0 mk3 Strut Bars

Featured Replies

Good day.

Anyone have or had strut bar on focus 1.0 mk3?

What kind of modifications could be made to improve steering amd cornering (except tyres and suspensions).

Tyres and suspension👍

What about strut bars or anything else?

Yes, spend the money and put them on.

They will do absolutely nothing

Why do nothing?

It is a friend's question not mine.

You're not pushing the car to the limit enough to even make it think about twisting

So strut bars would be useful only to a st or a third stage 1.0?

Not really, a track car that's flat out at the limit with huge amounts of power and torque

A 2.0 Turbo ST doesn't have or need strut braces, so you're never going to be able to do anything to make a 1.0 Ecoboom need them

Springs, Shocks and tyres will make it handle better

I recall these often being used in the past on Fords in the hope of stopping inner wings already weakened by rust from caving inwards!

You'd really need serious power and torque to actually "need" one on most modern cars* for road use.

This is a US article but still of interest:

* I test drove a Hyundai i30N a few times and, interestingly, that has one at the rear (which interferes with the boot space). That's 280ps, though.

They were great on MK2 Escorts and, especially, Capris as the front chassis used to twist when cornering
